Sanyo to Spin Off Semiconductor Unit

On March 31 Sanyo announced that it will spin off its loss-making semiconductor unit on July 1, which will then become a new company wholly-owned by Sanyo. The new company will have a staff of 2,300 people. This move is part of Sanyo's overall efforts to restructure its operations as it is fighting considerable losses.
